May 2021- A gentle reminder!

Please will all members kindly post back to the church the completed Personal Data Consent Form, which was enclosed with the recent newsletter.  Please do this as soon as possible and, if you didn't renew your membership in 2020, remember to pay the £8 fee.  Remember, it will not be possible to pay at the AGM this year.  Full details are on the newsletter.

May 2021- A further update

This year's AGM is now scheduled to take place at the church on Tuesday 31st August at 7.30 pm.  The final arrangements are still to be established but it will definitely not be held online using Zoom.  (The Rules for Churches do not permit the AGM to be held remotely).  There are no plans to re-open the church at the moment.

April 2021

A hard copy of this Newsletter has been posted to all current members

Dear Friends

It was always hoped that by now, as we are in the 3rd Month of the year, we would be in the position of opening our doors at Hitchin Spiritualist Church.

Sadly we are not, and it is, as we know as a Committee, hard to continually review with the same conclusion that we must for the moment remain closed.

Our responsibility goes further than the safety of our Congregation, Members and Committee but to the wider Community as a whole. Our 2nd principle "The brotherhood of Man" teaches us to look out for our fellow man and with Covid-19 and its variants being so prevalent safety of all is at the forefront of the Committee's minds.

Many of our attendees do not use or have the internet and we want to let everyone know that if you feel you want to speak to someone then the following Committee Members are happy to have a chat with you.

Steve Allen        07577 979409

Penny Cook      07747 141584

Jenny Pickton   07821 930568

We would not want anyone to feel that they are alone during these difficult times.

As soon as it is safe we will with joy reopen our doors and look forward to seeing everyone.

AGM – 23rd June at 7:30 p.m. please be seated by 7:15 p.m.  Date of AGM changed - please see update above.

Government guidelines permitting, it is anticipated to have an Annual General Meeting in June this year in the church. The final date is to be advised. There may still be a requirement to limit numbers and it is anticipated that further requirements may need to be in place to ensure COVID safety, such as distancing, masks, hand sanitiser etc. Should there still be a need for the AGM to be held online by Zoom then details will be advised in advance.

The committee would like to invite members, who wish to be considered to join the church committee, to please enclose a brief note with your completed Personal Data Consent form.

Membership Renewals

The renewal membership fee is normally due on the 1st of January and is £8. However, as we have experienced severe restrictions due to the pandemic for the past twelve months the committee have decided the following.

For members that renewed and paid their membership for 2020 then membership will continue for this year with no fee due. However, if you wish to donate £5 or more to cover the Membership Affiliation Fee that is normally paid to the SNU, then please feel free to do so.

For members that did not renew in 2020, they can renew this year by paying the full £8. Please renew your membership before the AGM and not on the day to keep administration to an absolute minimum, thank you.

Payments may be made by sending a cheque to the church address, made payable to Hitchin Spiritualist Church, or by an online bank transfer with the following details:

Sort code: 60-11-10 account number: 03511847 and importantly using your name as the reference.

Enclosed with the posted copy of this letter is a form that covers how the church may use your personal data. Could all members please complete this form and post it back to the church, thank you. Until then you are all in our thoughts and prayers

Healing Services

Unfortunately, the healing service cannot take place at this time and may not start until government guidelines allow. Healing can still take place as absent healing, by me and other churches and individuals. I am not sure if there will be a return to contact healing right away when the church restarts the healing service as I must wait until advice is received from the SNU.

If you have an internet connection, you can request absent healing by sending me an email to

[email protected] or give me a call on 07824 480694 to be added to my healing list.

Love and light, Terry Smith      Healing Group Leader
